If you ever wondered what a 68 Vette was worth

Probably a misprint. $30k. I did see a ‘68 L88 go for $600k last year. Probably $1.2 mil this year.:D

32 is still a bit high. several things not stock with that car

Or his wife told him to sell it, and now he can say he tried....
I'm guilty of crap like that. After I passed owning 6 cars, my wife told me I needed to sell some, so I advertised in a local free bulletin board at twice what they were worth. She has given up on that.

A lady I was dating around 1999 told me some friends of hers had one in their garage and wanted to sell it for $8,000.

They hadn't advertised it yet, so I was getting first shot.

I was saving for a down payment on a house, so I passed.

In the early 90's, my grandmother told me that her neighbor was selling an old chevy for $2500. I went and looked. It was a 1 owner '58 vette. I didn't feel right about stealing it from the old lady. It was her son's who died in Vietnam. It sat covered in her garage. Thankfully a local guy felt the same about it that I did, and bought it from her at the going market rate.

In the Corvette world ‘68 and ‘64 were both less than desirable. ‘68’s first year of the C3 had numerous issues. 30k may not be that far off as a good price.

This story has been circulated in Corvette lore for years. Sorta like the super stock Dodge that a grandma drove on Sundays!!

I like the looks of the ‘68. Especially the back. It had 4 red taillights and rectangular backup lights under the bumper. They went to 2 red and 2 backup for the rest of the C3 run.

I was going to say he has about 4 " wives tales " stories covered there....

a good friend just inherited a 70 LT1 4 speed all original, even the battery ,garage find at his late aunts house. He thought jhs uncle had sold it yrs. ago but was still in the garage with a 66 429 t bird. t bird just brought 13K and the vette 70K without even starting it up!

For THAT? You could remove three of the zeros and I'm still not interested.

I only had a hankering for a Corvette once in my life. It was back in 66 when I was in the Navy. I had my eye on a 58 Corvette. The dealer talked me into a 60 Pontiac instead. He told me one of every three Corvettes in Southern California get stolen every year. That was enough to quell any Chevrolet interests I ever had. Another guy from my ship bought a 60 Vette and sure enough, two weeks later it went missing and was never heard from again.

Vettes were too obvious. It screams. "I got credit" Muscle cars were made because of sport cars. Working man's performance. I graduated high school in late 70s. Muscle cars were the only cars we could afford? The rich kids got the the newer vettes and Trans Ams. My '66 389 GTO terrorized them. I then bought a '68 Sport Satellite. Both cars rated as 335 HP. Both cars 3.73:1 rears. Both with upgraded Edelbrock lowrise and Holley carb upgrades. (We never even thought of numbers matching stuff.) And it was a good race. The auto Satellite had consistency. The GTO 4-speed could jump out in front if got her off the line well? The race was on if the Satellite could real it in in time? Awesome days.
