Ive got a 67 charger that i just dropped a 440 in. Im using an msd distributor and it says to bypass the balast resistor. I did so amd now there is no power to the ignition. I can crank the engine at the key but it will not supply any voltage to the ignition. Any thoughts? This is driving me crazy

Did you bypass the ballast resistor or just remove it? We removed mine and forgot to install a bypass and had the same issue.

Did you run the red 12volt back to the positive side of the battery and the black ground to the negative side of the battery

Did you hook the two connectors together from the ballast? Got any picsof the car?

New problem. I got power but now when your cranking theres not enough power going to the distributor to start the engine. Any thoughts?

Yer missing a connection somewhere. I'll have to pull the schematic out to be sure, but I think the coil is fed power from the starter relay through the resistor(two wires on one side) while cranking because all power from inside the car is diverted to the starter during cranking.

Just a thought, did you happen to ground the coil? You aren't supposed to.

If I were you, I'd throw the ballast resistor out, get a Blaster 2 coil, wire the distributor orange to the neg-side of the coil, the ground to the block, and the positive to the positive side of the coil. It's a pretty easy kit.

While you're at it, I'd pull the coil off of the intake manifold and mount it vertically on the firewall instead.
