This is the third time in a row that after I placed an online order with Classic Industries I received a phone call that the shipping charges had increased. I realize that the shipping cost is an estimate in the online quote but in one case the cost trebled. This hasn't happened with any other supplier that I've used.

This seems to be a bit much and was wondering if others were having similar experiences.

I'd just say "thanks for the update, please cancel my order".

I did just that but began wondering if it could be some sort of scam. I don't want to throw out an accusation as they are a sponsor for this site.

I once had high hopes for CI but alas it fell short due to the ungreased reach around from their shipping dept. Hey here's a thought call Tony's mopar parts!

I'm thinking that shipping cost have gone up recently. I underestimated my last two shipments through USPS by at least a dollar...

I haven't had a problem with Classic - in fact they did me a huge favor recently. I think S&H in general is a rip with most of these companies. It's another profit line.

I was snooping around Year One today. Put 4 items in the cart. 3 of which are free shipping in the lower 48.
Total parts value 271.96........shipping and handling charges $130.91! That is for the one part, it's a carpet. Outstinkingrageous!
They all are increasing, but what the hell can you do?

Price of fuel is way down,so should shipping charges!!!!!!
Exactly! For years all we heard is "shipping is so expensive because of fuel prices". Complete BS. Fuel prices for shippers is half of what it was a few years ago but shipping charges keep going up.

It's due to all of the undocumented workers wanting raises caused by this idiot!

go to the UPS site.. get a quote from their location to yours and you'll know what your shipping charge should be.
I worked for an online parts place in 06' and we actually went to UPS site to get our shipping quote. Many places just charge what they want as anything over is profit as mentioned above.

Overall, if you can identify the weight and size of the product your purchasing you can determine what actual shipping cost is. You can even call UPS with the specs n weight and they will tell you.

A little off topic, but after a few days of having stuff left in "the cart" and a couple emails from Year One reminding me, today they offered a 10% discount on the items. Hmmm, I wonder if they will go higher after a few more days.

UPS has a "fuel surcharge" listed in the total shipping costs!
What's going to happen when oil prices head back up?

I wanted to order a 4' x 8' sheet of plexiglass, was 200.00.....place in San Diego, 80 miles away, the quote was over 700.00! Reject!

Classic is the worst in my opinion. I went to order some stuff last week with their 15% off and free shipping. I got it all ordered and there's a 15 dollar shipping charge. So I called and asked, said it was an oversized item and would cost more to ship. So I replied" so your free shipping isn't free, didn't see any disclaimer anywhere. Silence at his end. So is it free or not? No. Please cancel my order I'll go to a company that delivers what they advertise. CLICK On the flip side Mega Parts has the best I've dealt with on shipping times & charges.

X2

I have ordered from Mega for years and never had an issue with the products, shipping, shipping cost, and returns(rare). Outstanding owner and parts provider!

Charger Specialties is also a bad company for shipping charges...I got charged $18 for shipping a printed circuit board across the state to me...when I got the package...the price was $6.15 to get it to me from him.....I confronted him about this charge, he said that's just the way it is, too bad....what a crook
