I going through the dash of my 66 Belvedere and want to re-do the paint and "chrome' edging on the glovebox door and instrument cluster. Does anyone know - besides the obvious paint and chrome touchup - if there is a preferred process.
Thanks

Best would be sending it out and having it re-chromed.

Depending on your budget and desired level of restoration (and what the proper finish was originally) many have has success with either a chrome leafing, chrome paint pen...or my favorite, a bright silver paint pen.

Budgetary constraints. All that it needs is the 'chrome' edging repaired, so I will try your suggestions... all of them, and report. Thanks for the help.

I have used the silver leafing pen by Krylon, does a nice job

Google 'Killer Chrome' it's a spray on chrome 'something' - not paint. I taped off a small section of a plastic armrest bezel, sprayed on the black base coat then the 'chrome' and man it looks great. Not sure about the durability, time will tell. My thought is to tape off the instrument cluster bezel and 're-chrome' the edging with this stuff. $120 for the product. Steep but not bad when you consider what sending your trim out the a chrome plating co.
@daytona71... the silver leaf pen worked great on the bezel lettering (headlights, wipers). Thanks

Sent my 68 RR IP bezel, 383 hood call-outs, Plymouth emblem, and a couple of engine parts to Coat-of-Chrome in Windgap Pa. for spray chrome, still not cheap but about half the cost of traditional chrome plating. Everything turned out great.
