I have a 74 charger SE and I'd like to have a hood with a power bulge, but people around my area sell things for the chargers really expensive. Is there a cheaper alternative like a hood from a different car that will fit? If anyone could clue me in on what all cars for my year could be interchanged I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

$800-$1200 for a decent one is the going price.

I paid $250 for one with a rusted out frame.

Fiberglass will be $450-$650, but will also be more labor and about $150 or more truck freight.

A roadrunner hood will bolt on and they're a LOT cheaper and easier to find.

BUT, they are a different design in the front an use a finish panel between the fenders, so a whole lot of custom fab work would be necessary.

Thanks a lot for the info, it is much appreciated. The hood I currently have isn't too bad, but on the outsides of the frame (which is probably common) there is a lot of dimples and rust holes and I'm not real sure about how to fix that. And then of course there is the common dent in the very front nose of the hood as well, which I have already remedied. Would it be better to drop the big bucks on a new hood or just try and doctor mine?

Flat hoods are fairly common and cheap.

They sold a LOT of 73 Chargers, but not many 71-74 Chargers with performance hoods, and for some reason the bulge hoods don't seem to hold up as well.

I just sold a really nice 73 flat hood, complete with trim for $100.
I have a 74 left over as well. If you were closer, you could come get it for about the same.

I've seen them as cheap as $50 around here without trim.
