Internet connections

Comcast Xfinity 279mb,
way, way, way better (like 10 times) than AT&T was old dog slow
even the DSL "-so called- High-speed" was like a turtle

my -www- does anything I ever need instantly
how can it (fiber) be 25 times as fast as instantaneous ?

we are in the stone ages here in the sticks
it's 10 years behind the times, of the valley
& they are 10 years behind the bay
we don't have Fiberoptics "yet", no matter what the adds say
I don't see it coming up here anytime soon either

I guess if I need to move millions of bits/bytes of data,
I'd need more, but I don't,
90% (?) don't probably even businesses
so I suffer, with just instant service :poke:

Frontier must REALLY be bad.
frontier and spectrum are the only game in my town.
and, because my road is off the main road, the cable companies refuse to run line up our road.
even tho theres a junction box right at the end of my road.
so..everyone on my road is still using Dialup internet.
yes, dialup net in the year 2020.

as far as frontier goes,we have been waiting a YEAR for them to come and do a final install.
the wires currently are hanging in the trees....
they also tried to charge us for more services for them to finish the install they never did.
this is the kind of non customer support that you can expect from them.
spectrum is no better and we call that company Rectum, for its lack of customer service.

ive actually been looking at the hotspots/verizon and so forth, wondering if i could get real internet and enough bandwidth.
do any of you use this method for net?

We have some verizon "jet packs" at work.

They actually work very well.

For about a decade, I was the contact point for about 150 high speed data connections.

During the verizon era, a typical call went-

Me- I think we have a circuit down, here's the number.

verizon- I don't see any problem. It must be on your equipment. If we have to dispatch and it's your equipment, we will bill.

me- go ahead, it's mission critical and we have a 4 hour guarantee.

Invariably it was not in our equipment. It got so bad, that I would have to tell them what equipment of theirs to check (even though I'd never even seen it let alone operate it), and what test equipment they should use (again, even though I'd never operated it).

You'd think after a few hundred of these calls going like that, they'd at least entertain that I could be right.

In the Brighthouse era, a call went more like-

Me- I think we have a circuit down.

Brighthouse- OK, let me do some testing, please stay on the line.

Brighhouse- I don't see any equipment, I'll send someone out.

The reason Spectrum is no better than Charter is because its the same company.
