Saw the Kingsmen with Jack playing local venues when I was a high school kid back in Oregon. They were a great band but I guess since they were kind of local it didn't dawn on us that they were all that famous. RIP Jack.
they were not famous..that goofy number that everyone put their own words to was....also, as a local band guy I hated that song:icon_mad:....and they can take "proud Mary" right along with it:icon_pale:,,,and throw in "midnight hour!":glasses2:
otherwise Sonny liked most '60 & 70's music
Barbara ann was the pits...no not the beach boys, the regents were 1st to record...I hate both.
I read that the FBI investigated the song "Louie Louie" for suspected obscenity. It is amazing that J Edgar Hoover had the the time and available resources in 1963 to investigate Louie Louie, Castro, the mob, the Kennedys, Martin Luther King and stlll had time left over to dress up as a woman.
"Louie -Louie" Was a teenage rebel song--no one knew the words, but they just had to be BAD! Lots of beer drinking and "dirty dog" dancing at gigs put on by a whole new group of rock and roll groups. Thanks to the British invasion and the american bands that followed. What a great time to be young. ...............MO
