A 87-year-old man, from Vermont, died while trying to rescue a turtle from the southbound lanes of I-95 on Sunday.

I've done it twice in the past six months.

40 years or so ago, when traffic on I-95 around there could sometimes be measured in miles between cars, instead of feet, I stopped and picked up many Gopher turtles and put them in the Preserve. There's really no way to do that safely now. People know how to drive fast now, just a few can safely drive fast.
