Well now....that was certainly something. :)
Around these parts, one would say something like "that boy can pick a little",
which means the dude has some serious playing talent - which he certainly does.

I never had a real appreciation of bluegrass (or gospel, for that matter) for a lot of years,
even though both sides of my family come from this part of the world and that's a lot of
what I heard in the house growing up...
Being the typical rebel, I liked about any real music except for those for a lot of years
(and still do - anything performed by real, talented humans on actual musical instruments
really) - but since moving back here in 1995 (and being a ton more weathered by life),
I can appreciate and enjoy bluegrass as much as (sometimes even more) than about any other
form of music nowadays.
It takes serious skill and talent to perform it well and honestly, not that many can do it.

I spent a couple years in a bluegrass band in high school with a 17 year old kid that took 17th place in the nation in the junior fiddling contest. The guy who was the best drummer in school (I was 2nd), that learned guitar for our rock band since we had 2 drummers and only 1 guitar player, learned to pick the banjo for this band. His father who was a music instructor played the folk guitar, and my brother played bass. We did mostly weddings and talent shows. It was some of the most fun I had performing, just sitting back with my brushes and listening to these guys kick it out. Jack and his dad played a mean dueling banjos!
