Hi all.

My leaf springs have finally sagged enough that i need to replace them. I found a place to purchase new ones (http://www.springsnthings.com/leaf-spring.htm) but my question is, should i get stock height or something higher/lower than stock to achieve the original look of my car before the leaf springs were sagging?

I figure, worst case, i'm better off going with stock height and lowering with blocks later.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Paul

The attached pictures show the rear tire size and how the car sat about 5 years ago.

Stock height if you like the look. Increased height if you want some rake. BTW, ESPO is a great place to get your springs! 440'

When you talk to them ask about doing a weight increase. I have no idea what ESPO does . I got springs from Eaton Detroit Springs. They did a 2'' drop with a 100lbs weight increase for several of my cars. They worked out for what we were doing at the time.

Watch it and watch out.
I told Laura i wanted stock but i'm sure they were 1" over.I made new front perches to lower the car an inch or so to the correct height.

So what do you think? Order 1" under?

I ordered stock height 10 years ago. They are still perfect.

No...just make sure she understands stock height

I would vote for stock height.
I have bought several sets of springs from ESPO. Didn't have any issues until my Duster. I am now on my 3rd set from her for that car. Still not happy and going forward will be paying up for Eaton Detroit Springs. Laura is very nice, but has no idea what "stock ride height" would have been.

I need to replace the rear springs on my 67 GTX. Can someone with the same car post pictures with a 1" and 2" lift? Thanks!

If you want to raise it don’t do it with springs, do it with perches. Arch, when going around corners makes the outside leg longer, steering the axle out of the corner and creating oversteer. Lots of people then keep going stiffer to try and compensate but you can’t.
