Well first off it's a 71 Charger with a 440. Engine has been rebuilt once due to a spun rod bearing. The leak is at the back of the engine. I've done the rear main twice already (and yes I've tried off setting the seal). The pan bolts are all tight as well. It only leaks if it has been sitting for a week or more. I know don't let it sit for a week or problem solved but I'm stationed in CA gas prices suck and the police keep following. I thinks it cause I have a cool old Mopar.
Once it has lost about a quart of so I top off to the full mark on the dip stick and no more leak till the next time I drive it after sitting. I can drive it daily with no leaks but once it sits it comes back. Is the seal drying out and causing the leak? any ideas or suggestions are welcome?
As always thank you for your time. Phil
