Hi all,

I curious where to start looking on this.. I got the road runner out for a nice cruise tonight and to pick up some items..I was out maybe 30 minutes when I noticed that the car was having some issues getting going, it felt like the rear brakes were engaged, well I got it home with some effort and into the garage.. Turned it off and she was stuck, like when I put it in nuetral, she would budge... Well I changed cloth, gave it about an hour to cool off and came down to look at it.

Came down and it was like nothing happened could move it in nuetral and started up and ran fine... Wtf?

Any ideas where to start looking? Brakes, transmission, boogie man?

Thanks

This happened to my duster the other day I haven't bothered with it but I have a hunch that the rubber brake hose collapsed during my ride. Checked it a day later it's like nothing happened ,I drove it to the garage the other day and ordered the hoses ,I can't think of any other thing to cause this ,mine felt Like the fronts though so may not be the same problem but I'd check the hoses (if there soft)

Did you check to see if there was any excessive warmth coming from a particular wheel?

No photon, thst would of been a good idea.

This is when a temp. gun comes in very handy.

A couple questions; did you recently replace the brake shoes? And if so, what Brand of shoes did you install?

Do you have an adjustible master cylinder rod. If so it maybe too long..did you notice your brake pedal may be too hard?

Yes, I did recently change them and i will have to look up the brand.

The pedal felt real tight, like it was engaged or like the parking brake was engaged... In fact I hit that a couple times to make sure it wasn't engaged

These drums, So if it is a caliper I am really job trouble ;P

Sorry, trying some humor

Back off on the shoe adjuster a few clicks and test drive it again before you change anything. Are you certain the 'leading' and 'trailing' shoes are installed in the right place? Long brake lining shoes are installed aft of the axle. Short brake lining shoes are installed forward of the axle (self energizing). HTH

Trashdog67 nailed it, methinks.
Only other possibility that I see is a failing residual pressure valve in the MC.

I'll guess bad master cylinder or going bad or crap in the lines or kinked line.

Ok, if bad MC.. Does the whole MC powerbooster need to come out or just the MC?

Well took it for a short fifteen minute drive, came back and checked for heat driver side front was really hot, the rest cool to touch... Tonight I am going to pop that drum off and look in there and look at the line too.

A swollen line could also allow pressure through but not back, so brake would drag.

Do you have an adjustible master cylinder rod. If so it maybe too long.

If the rods not allowing the piston to return to the full rest position, fluid pressure will eventually build up and the brake will start dragging. Let it sit a bit and pressure will bleed off again, until the next ride. Even the smallest degree of excess rod length will cause this issue. Easy to check, and even easier to fix.

Thanks everyone, the line doesn't show any weird kink or anything
