The trouble and strife is laying next to me as I type. She doesn't know it yet, but when she gets home from work tomorrow a 1974 Plymouth Satellite Custom, with a 225ci slant 6 1bbl (RG motor) will be in the driveway. I swapped two immaculate1977 mopeds (50cc motorbikes with pedals) plus some cash completely on a whim. It appears to run well - I certainly hope it runs better than the 73 Lincoln Mark IV I bought a few years back which now sits on blocks its engine removed awaiting a rebuild. So anyway, apparently, I've become a Mopar guy. Nice to meet you all.

Hi Deltic, nice Cockney jargon you tossed in there. :)

Welcome to the forum, I hope your '74 Satellite works out well for you. Upload a picture or two when it's in your driveway...

:wav: aboard!

Welcome from Maine! Good luck with the car and the wife! You're not alone, I've been there too......"oh look what I just got" :headbang:

Oh by the way, I have a special "doghouse" with my name on it! I'm there a lot!

hi and welcome to the site :headbang:

welcome to FBBO, good to have you too

Thanks for the welcome guys. That made for an interesting evening... she's a psychologist, and pronounced me "beyond hope." Anyway, managed to drive the car on the freeway home for 48 miles. The brakes are dire and will be priority number one. I attempted to upload a picture earlier and I will try an attach a couple to this post (my Lincoln is in the background). Overall the car appears in very nice shape...a few rust bubbles near rear window, but no major rot. I'm very happy with the car so far, and the dude I bought it from appears to be in moped heaven, so all is right with the world it would seem. 20140806_181843.jpg20140806_181803.jpg

These are what I exchanged, plus a grand. I'd had the mopeds for many years, and had pretty much lost interest in them, leaving them sitting in the back of the garage. Hopefully they can bring the new owner a few smiles - he will certainly raise a few eyebrows when he rides through town...the man is 6:7

39k on clock which he claims are original, but I don't buy that at all. The seller told me it was formerly an unmarked cop car.

Aren't we all beyond hope when it come to these things lol welcome for riverside

I'm glad things went well, or should I say, ok? Good looking car. Good luck with the brakes! Have fun with it!

Brake Technology Circa 1974

I'm glad things went well, or should I say, ok? Good looking car. Good luck with the brakes! Have fun with it!

Saw Bob the brake guy today. He opened the hood and pointed to where the brake booster normally is and said "that's your problem right there."
Evidently they are working as designed, a statement for which words fail me.
So I was referred to these guys http://www.abspowerbrake.com who I dropped by on my travels today. They are making me up a custom brake kit with booster for $360.00 which I am assured will at least mean I don't need 200 yards before I even think about dropping anchor. When I have a little more free cash I'll spring for some across the chest seat belts a headliner and a radiator (new one on Ebay for 50 bucks but shipping is 40). The existing rad has had too many meetings with Mr. J.B. Weld.
Thanks for your kind words and support. I'm sure the Sat will grow on Mrs. Deltic eventually.
