They are hard to find in good condition. I have one that I paid for $1,200.00 that I eventually will be putting on my R/T or use it as a spare in case of an accident. I think I found it on Craigslist about five years ago.
Yeah I've been watching for a while now. Dad has his original hood but it needs a pretty decent amount of work and I would like to find a better one. Hopefully 1 will pop up soon.
Yes thank you we're trying to find a good way ship it. Most of the shipping quotes I've gotten are more than the hood. I'm going to check some more places on Monday .
Good luck with that, a nice hood is hard to find. I shipped the one I found from Idaho to Alaska and paid quite a bit just getting it. THAT is what distinguishes the car and you have to have it.
Thanks for the tip on the hood! Dad was able to work something out with the guy so we will hopefully have it here in a few days. Then we'll be taking the rt over to get the body work and paint finished. I'm looking forward to getting it finished. Dad has a 69 gtx project car I will be listing shortly he has too many projects.
Randy, I actually turned the stock hood into the scooped hood by buying the cast scoops and mounting them. So when I had her painted, I did both hoods giving me the option of swapping hoods for a different look. I have the template for drilling the stock hood to mount the dual scoops if you decide to go that route.
Out of 400-500 cars at a local car show, you will see maybe 40-50. Wish we had more summer to build and drive them in, we get maybe 3 1/2 to 4 months between thaw and freeze. Most all parts we need have to come from outside and that is a long way to ship stuff.
I bought my hood in Idaho for $850, a pretty good deal. The shipping was another $600 and that was with a real great seller boxing it up and me using a discounted Fed Ex account thru work. All I heard was "bend over, lets talk!" from shippers. Good luck and glad you found one for your Dad.
That rate was about 60% of the Fed Ex rate quote through the company I work for...I got a great deal! The quote before the discount was $250 bucks more than the hood! Glad you could take advantage of that deal, they are very hard to find especially in decent condition.
