Hello:
I've pretty much had it with the new tools on the market today. I'll leave the rant for another post someday, but I have had good luck buying used tools.
I'm in the market for a used impact wrench. If you have one for sale, let me know. If you have a recommendation on what I should look for (like on eBay), please do share the advice.
Thanks, and have a nice day, Bill

I like the craftsman electric impact, I use it all the time to change tires, remove crank bolts, loosen rusty bolts. It's stout and I don't need an air compressor.

I use a DeWalt cordless and it's torques lug bolts perfectly. No complaints, had it three years

Can't go wrong with an Ingersol Rand 231 or the higher rated 232.

Even a 30 year old one is probably just fine.

I still have the 232 (now marketed as "Thunder Gun", but with a harder internal hammer) I got back in high school in the mid 1980's. -+ 500 ft/lbs IIRC

I also picked up a Chicago Pneumatic (not sure on model number) at a swap meet for $10.
That's also a "can't go wrong" piece, jut don't confuse them with "Central Pneumatic" from HF.

I got a sears craftsman 1/2 drive for like 30 bucks on ebay

I have both, the IR 231 and a CP 734. Both have been great impacts, I've had them for over 30 years. You usually can pick up a CP for a song. They've been around for decades.

It's 19.2V lithium ion cordless. I am standardized on 19.2V craftsman stuff now so that I can interchange batteries. It will remove crankshaft bolts with ease. It definitely has its limits versus a pneumatic, but it's cordless which means I can take it with me in the car and use it to change flat tires in 5 minutes. It met its match against the badly rusted lug nuts on my 67. However, a few squirts of liquid wrench and some soak time ended the battle.

IR231 it is! This is about the third time that model has been recommended!
Off to search for a used one now.
Thanks for the advice. Take care, Bill

Offer a hundy.

I've had my IR gun since 1984....and it still twists the biggest **** off. LOL

So you definitely want one that is air powered? You can generally find all this kind of stuff at estate sales/auctions for good prices. I bought a brand new ingersoll rand cordless for $35. They sell for $250.
We bought my dad a craftsman for Father's Day and it works pretty good too.

Look at pawn stores, I've good deals at them.
