Low beams flickered and went out

ride home last night had the low beams flicker and go out. Tried the switch a few times and they came on but went out again. High beams stayed on so I drove home that way.
My understanding is the dimmer and switch are one unit? Would that be the most likely culprit or would a instrument volt. reg. be it?
I don't know, only going by what I've read.

Had the same problem with my Superbird. It was the dimmer switch. Hope this helps
