Reinstalling the new rear end and suspension. New 8 3/4 rear end from Dr Diff, new heavy duty springs/bolts/front hangers/rear shackles from Mancini. Reusing my lower spring plates from my original suspension. It was a 318 car. Seems like the lower spring plates are too narrow. See picture. Are the spring plates wider for the heavy duty springs? Something doesn’t seem to be lining up correct. Axle sits perfect in the center leaf studs.

are they upside down?
Good point, I didn’t take pictures before I removed so I was looking at the shop manual at their diagram. Pretty sure this is the way it showed them going on, but maybe I need to double check.

Thanks everyone. Don’t know how I missed that. I’m gonna chalk it up to my bronchitis/fever lol. Now I need to delete this post before others see how much of an idiot I am. Thanks again

Uh no....it won't be deleted because you are not the only one to do it this way!! Sorry :D

I never considered that solution. It actually might work if you had lowering spacers. Not sure what that would gain you in the end, but nice to know it is workable.
It would also allow one to use the aftermarket add on tie downs flat against the plate and use a single attachment nut per threaded u bolt.
Thanks for posting

And you are not an idiot, mainly because you asked.
