The main seal cap on my 400 is damaged. I'm looking at a billet one from 440 source. With main caps being married to there place is that the case with the main seal cap, or can you just buy a new one and bolt it on without machine work.

When I worked at an automotive machine shop (the '80's) we would never touch, resize, modify etc. the seal cap on a BBD. I don't ever recall needing to replace one of those caps, but my thought is you could use a new cap or a used one and simply install it. The seal has far more tolerance for a misalignment or sizing issue than a bearing would handle. Of course you could contact 440 Source for their thoughts but I think they'll say use it as is.

ok thanks thats what I had figured but I just wanted to make sure
