Thomas Voehringer, the HOT ROD archivist, found this cool photo from the NHRA Nationals in 1966. That’s Ed Miller’s ’65 Plymouth Hemi, which won the S/S class in 1966 with both the lowest ET and highest top speed of any S/S car. Looks like a nice rolling slide hammer they’ve got there. That’s some ingenuity.

If it gets the job done, then why not use it. We need more of the old American ingenuity.
 
What the heck if it works use it, I like the bald bias ply tire on that spare...
 
:eek:we used to actually only use a 10 foot loging chain. hook up one end then whip it like a rope.
