Meterorite

Anyone see on news tonight the meteorite that passed by at 7500 or 7800 miles away? ABC news said it was like stepping outside and the wind blowing our hair, very close for it. About 1PM they said. close i guess...

I saw that. The problem was they only found it 5 days ago.

I guess it made the news because it was a big meteor? Glad is wasn't a meteorite because that's what they are called after they hit!

Don't know, thats why i asked thought maybe someone hear heard of it. Thought he got it off some kind of site and was a joke. not been around a computer today. By the post above i guess something went over. Couldn't have been that big of a deal.

"An bus-sized asteroid will streak over the Atlantic Ocean Monday morning, coming within 7,500 miles of the Earth’s surface. That is closer to our planet than the moon, making the event the fifth closest near-miss in recorded history.

The asteroid, called 2011 MD, is estimated at about 10 meters in length, around the size of a large bus or semi-truck. The object will zoom over the Atlantic at about 1:15 p.m. EDT. It will be observable by some small telescopes, due to its size and close passage."

Hmmm....Say it was going to hit and it was 10 miles across vs. 10 meters, would you want to even know it was coming?

Kind of a morbid thing to think about, but definitely could be a reality. I can't say I would want to know or not.

Well some of the experts say its more of when then if so it is a reality for sure, But would i want to know its coming? heck yea, it would be so quick, why not? lets see something like that! Imagine that would be a site to see, a 3D Disney effect that going to bop us good. After i heard last night Brian Williams say the scientists knew of this 5 days ago and the way he said it i laughed, like "wasn't that fitting of them to inform us"..
