This setup looks a bit sketchy, it works OK but I can't get any real tension in the belt because there is only one bolt holding it in place. I'm just looking for some advice on how to proceed, the 440 is obviously not original to the car but is the problem with the water pump? This was a 318 car.
Advice and opinions are welcome!

You have the 318 pump and mounting bracket, you need to get bracket for 440 engine.

Ok I found the bracket on ebay, hopefully the pulley lines up.

Should be another bolt on the bottom, that is a federal pump, you can also use the rear bolt on the pump there should be a hole on the bracket for it.

There is a homemade looking bracket on the back of the pump, and the pulley is actually too far forward. Maybe I can make it work but the more I study pictures of correct engines it looks like I might be in the market for a complete bracket and pump assembly...
