First and foremost I am not a great mechanic. Bought the Mod Man from Hughes Engines because of the poor reputation Indy has. First no one told me that the Mod Man came with it's own valley pan. Called Indy and they said it would work by machining 3/8 of an inch off the front and rear of intake. Did that took it back to my machinist and machined it 1/2 inch front and rear. Did not work! My motor is a complete 426 street wedge with aluminum heads 500 hp from Indy. It has an Indy valley pan on it. There lies the problem! Told my machinist to whack off the valley pan and it somewhat fit. Also had to take 20 thousandths off frame rails to bypass valve covers. Bolt holes did not match up - had to oblong. Ports matched up perfect. This is a street car that will probably never see the track. Performance wise when I received the car it had a 273 gear, put a 355 gear in the rear and the seat of my pants felt tremendous. Went from an M1 750 double pumper with oversized jets to the Mod Man and the seat of pants experience was double from the 355 gear change. Friendly on the streets I still have to work on the choke system, definitely hard starting when cold. Had to cut hole in hood and that's another story. IMG_20150118_101457_417.jpg

Not really following you on the problem with fitting! I have one on my race car, 440 and Stealth alum heads! I had no problems with it, ports matched great right out of the box! And no sealing problems either. Where did you take 1/2" off? Did you keep the valley cover? I guess if it's working for you now? It's a mute point any way!

looks nice in that photo
