Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums but not new to the majesty of Mopar. While I don't currently have a car, back in college (1998-2004) at any given time, my roommates and I had Mopars in various states of repair. At one point we had my 1969 Dodge Charger RT/SE, a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger, and two 1965 Plymouth Barracudas under our roof or in our driveway. Those were some excellent times indeed and I'm glad to have found this community.
What's bringing me back in to the Mopar fold, strangely, is that I'm tying the knot. So, for the bachelor party I'm forgoing the typical bachelor party activities to instead spend the week with my old college roommates working on a classic Mopar like we used to. The goal being to purchase the car ahead of time, make our plans, order our parts, and then get together back in CA and get as much done in a week as we can. Once we are done with the week, we'll sell the car and hope to recoup at least some of the initial money spent (unless someone wants to buy everyone else out). We are hoping to be able to do this on the relative cheap as some guys have recently bought houses and had kids, but spread across 4 or 5 guys, we'll probably be able to spend up to 8k total. We are definite fans of the pre-1971 b-bodies, so that's what we will be looking for. I'd be interested to hear any of this communities expert opinions on candidate cars and what might be feasible in a week. All of the guys in the group took part in an engine rebuild, dash rewiring, and suspension rebuild during our college years, but it was over the span of a year, not a week, so our estimates of what we can accomplish might be a bit off.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to interacting with this community during the project and sharing our progress in the Spring.
