1967 coronet 440 motor. Was wondering why that one side of rubber motor mount bolt hole is 5/8 " and the one with the nut welded on is 7/16 in. Does this take a special shouldered bolt for the rubber mount to k frame. Mine only had 7/16 in. x 3 3/4". Is the 5/8 hole for ease of alignment. Don"t seem right that a 7/16 bolt through a 5/8" hole. Someone please enlighten me on this. Thanks, jts

Silly question, the brackets are opposite side to side. By that I mean that on the drivers side the bolt goes in from the back, passengers side from the front. Both bolts are the same shoulders bolts with same thread & stock has the nuts welded to the bracket on, if no welded nut, something has been modified. Don't get tricked by threads from one size fitting into the next size up, just did that a month ago. The holes in the frame brackets are larger for ease of installation.

Buddy, I,m sorry that it was a silly question to you. I have a disease which henders me from getting my thoughts out the way I want them to be sometimes. I,m trying to stay busy with this old car to keep my mind and body occupied. Maybe you should just bypass the silly questions.By your answer I am still at a loss. I bought this car apart and most everything was labeled in baggies. The two motor mount bolts which was labled were straight 7/16" x 3 3/4" capbolts with out a shoulder. The rubber motor mount is what has the 5/8" hole and 7/16" nut welded on the other side. I guess to simplify my question is the motor mount bolt a straight cap bolt or one with a inside shoulder to go in the 5/8 hole. Again any help would be appreciated. jts

The stock bolts are the 7/16 with a integral washer head, no larger shoulder, & the tip is a pilot point with a few thread cutting threads. The mount hole in the motor mount is the larger size to allow for some misalignment.

I use 1/2 grade 8 bolts, and by doing so, the engine doesn't rock nearly as much with the stock bolts.

Thanks everyone for the info. jts
