A couple of friends and I built a 70 440-6 RR several years back. The car was PS, PB, 4-speed. In the engine we used the MP 509 cam. Heads were ported with 214/181 valves. Had absolutely no problem with the power front disk brakes. Vacuum problems do come into play and the previous posts addressed that very well. (Vacuum pump and canister). Maybe the small canister for the air grabber hood helped our dumb asses out and we didn't notice it. Also the other 2 vacuum actuated 2bbls came in flawlessly between 70-75 mph.
