On my 73,318 charger I want to put in an msd ignition system. I know factory creates enough spark, but I want to eliminate the weak links(ecu, ballast). Is this easy to install? What all wires can I remove after installing?,

Second I was told I would be better off with a one wire alternator opposed to a factory 3 wire and yet again I could clear out more in needed wires. Who has done this mod? Improvement? You like it better than 3 wire? Is one wire still a dodge alternator?

Along with these improvements being upgrades o want to clean up engine bay removing un needed wiring.

I assume you mean MSD distributor and MSD 6AL multi-spark type unit? I'm racking my brain, but I don't think you'll really eliminate wiring overall in the process. In fact you have to add wiring to power the multi-spark box... You will eliminate the ballast resistor, but most of the wiring runs will still be there.

I have this setup in my 69 and like it, just not for the reason of wiring elimination.

3 wire alternator is better than 1 wire since one wire will not excite until 1500 rpms. Also if you need a new alternator quickly you will have a hard time finding an alternator that is one wire locally. The MSD will provide a very hot spark and is easy to install.

Installation of Msd ignition, dizzy and box, 6al etc, pretty easy with their directions. You will make a jumper to bypass the ballast. I did not remove any wiring when I installed my setup.

another note here..if something fails on the MSD system, you won't find replacement parts in any local parts store on the corner.....this is one reason I'm dumping my MSD and going HEI version from GM
