hi my name is max and i have a 66 hemi charger. ive been working on it since i was 15 and almost have it complete its taken me a lot longer due to moving for school and taking it awhile to get it up here. but its currently being painted hot rod black and all chrome trim is being painted gun metal mettalic. i realize i have a very rare car but am never going to sell it so i will do what i want to it. the thing that i think makes it strange is it and early production 66 charger which ive been told didnt come with the hemi. everyone tells me the hemi came into production half way through the build year or something. but i have the early style sway bar links and early style gauge cluster and i know the guy who originally bought the car and he had it ordered before they were even built. so all very odd but all well

the car will be getting a modern sound system, a keyless entry with alarm, hotchkis suspension, some 18 inch bbs rims, and some other custom touches. i love this car and wanna make it a restomod i can drive everyday and i will. as soon as im done i will likely sleep in the car. looking forward to some insight and knowledge from yall. thanks

ill post up pics and make a build thread soon

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! I look forward to seeing your pride and joy!

Do you have either the fender tag or the brosadcast sheet for the car? What is the scheduled production date?

Welcome

Everyone on here seems more than willing to help and share info. I am in the process of buying a '66. Look forward to seeing some photos.

Thanks all. I pulled her out of the storage container yesterday so hopefully this week I'll get motor back from machine shop and fire her up for the first time in 8 years. And no I lost the fender tag when I was a stupid kid didn't realize it's importance. All I have is vin and parts of the build sheet

Welcome to the site. My 66 HEMI Belvedere is a Jan 26 66 SPD and it has the early sway bar brackets as well. And it was always my understanding that the Charger was the first car to get the street HEMI, so following that logic they had to be putting HEMI's in Chargers before my SPD. Also, Jan 66 is not considered early since they start building cars around Sept-Oct then have to shut the plant down in Jul-Aug to retool, etc.. So doing the math Jan is creeping up on mid year production.

I too believe in driving my cars (when I get them running) and I admire you for doing that. People get as much enjoyment out of seeing the old cars on the road as the owners do driving them.

On the second box on the top line there is a sales order number. The first 3 digits are the sceduled production date. That will tell you the date the factory INTENDED to build the car.

Hey Welcome! Sounds like a cool car! Like to see some pics!!
