Well here we go. I just turned 40 and bought my first mopar. Its a 1965 sport fury with a 383 auto. My wife and I drove to Iowa to pick it up, she was very hesitant to give me the approval of the condition of the car. I thought it was perfect. She asked "Is this waht you want?" I said yes and we exchanged the cash for the car with the man. Onto the trailer it went. Traveling back to Michigan we discussed what I would like to do with our purchase. By then we were two states away from Iowa and my wife new how happy I was to have the car, And I was not turning back to get the $800.00 back. The guy Called us after we left to see if we would return the car for what we paid for it. He didnt want to sell it but his wife said it had to go. My wife said it needs to go also, but she meant home with US! The car had a BB400 that appeared to have a fresh rebuild but no intake or carb on it. The consel, radiator, driveshaft and original hubcaps were in trunk. When we got home I wanted to give the car a bath to see what we had bought more clearly. The car reads 46000 miles on the odometer which I and many of my car guy friends say looks to be original. I will start with the mechanical stuff first Front breaks, bearings and hoses seals and suspension, steering. I have a 1968 chrystler newport demo derby car thet has a 383 four barrel motor in it that runs great. I will put that engine in to get it on the road. Then build the 400 block with a 440 crank and make it a 451 hopfully pushing 600 hp:laughing4: It will be slow but I think I can have it on the street by next summer. My wife will work on the car with me witch is great for us. She is seeing the potential of the Fury and Is ok with budgeting funds for parts. Lucky me. I will need and have lots of questions and help but I have heard that this site has the best members and by far the coolest cars ever. Thanks Rico and Christine. Pictures to come soon.
