I have a 71 charger 500 and I've just repaired the roof from someone jumping on it. The roof skin is all nice and straight again but the roof support brace has been pushed lower than where used to be. What I need is a measurement from the dome light brace to the floor. I could use any good reference- from the dome light (or bezel) to floor (or console) I just need to get the brace in the right spot so it doesn't interfere with the headliner or dome light (puckering).

I measured my 72 charger from the dome light ( the bottom of the lense) to the center of the floor hump and came up with 37 inches.

I also moved forward about 8 inches and measured from the cross brace (that goes from one shoulder belt holder to the other) down to the center hump of the floor and got 38 inches.

Just a note: my roof was also pushed down and the skin had separated from the brace. The previous owner had used a screw jack and had pushed the roof back up and made sure the roof was right then put the strong adhesive panel bond on. It has held up well.

IF you need me to make any other measurements from a different location let me know. My carpet and headliner are out so it is pretty easy.

Godspeed,
JON

THANKS JON, those measurements are perfect! I also thought of trying the old push and glue trick but was worried about the brace returning to the bent condition and pull the skin down as well. I'm hoping I can shrink and stretch where needed to get to these measurements, then I can, like you said glue in place like the factory did.

THANKS AGAIN,
JESSE
