Thanks for the help. At present there are just standard sheet metal screws for the plastic inserts to hold onto but I see the 71 and later looks like there is a screw with a shoulder on it?

What works best for this trim and where can I get it?

Thanks again.

Jay

These clips slide into the gap in the trim then you can slide them into what ever position you need them.

Here is a picture I snagged off Ebay. They are installed in the trim.

Thanks, I wish I had a picture to send you but what you gave me cleared thing up some. In other words the guys before jacked this car up on even the smallest stuff... No wonder the chrome is falling off of the car, cant people just do stuff right?? Or try to, is it that hard?? Thanks for the help. So my chrome does not have the metal slides for the the clips so they put screws in the body and and used later model plastic inserts is what I guess happened. For all I know the car may have never come with a vinyl top.

There should be 3 holes in the body at the chrome level. This is where those spring clips will push into the holes. The previous owner of the car I have welded the holes closed so I had to recreate them. It was pretty simple just pencil in a line on top and below the chrome and go to the center of those two lines and make a hole. I think I used a bit smaller than a 1/4 inch.. Cant remember what size but its easy to guess if you have drill bits.

Oh, so the holes are that small... There are holes where the sheet metal screws are now, I can make that work. But now I need chrome that has the metal tabs in it that the right clips fasten into? My chrome has no sliders in it?

The square portion of the clips go into the chrome. The outter edge of the chrome is basically the channel that they ride in. The outter edge of the chrome holds them in place. But you will notice a few spots where the lip isnt rolled over to create the channel. This is where you insert the clip. Then slide it to where ever you have a hole. If you look at that picture on the bottom chrome all the way to the right side. You can see how the clip is under the rolled edge.

A sheet metal screw hole is probably too small you may want to open it up a bit bigger.

Find some different trim pieces. Any 68-70 b-body 2 door vinyl top trim pieces should work and come with the clips too most likely.

Thanks, I will have to keep an eye out. I think I just missed a pretty decent set for about $75.00.00

They repop them. Sadly the cost is high. http://www.autometaldirect.com/amd-...68-70-plymouth-b-body-2dr-hardtop-p-7679.html

These are on ebay slightly cheaper. https://www.ebay.com/itm/68-70-Plymouth-B-body-GTX-RR-Vinyl-Top-Stainless-Steel-Trim-Moldings-2-pcs-AMD/372087178120?fits=Make:plymouth|Model:GTX&epid=1854591349&hash=item56a21fc388:g:cP8AAOSw1uRZuYVi:sc:USPSPriority!30157!US!-1

You Might try Tony from Tonysparts link on the right. He has tons of mopar parts. Found some here 110 a pair used. He has some NOS but they cost more.
