need help on 70rr steering column disassembly

i need help on getting my steering column disassembled.im down to the lock plate and having trouble figuring how to get it off.i have a 70 manual.it says next step is to remove the lower steering shaft lock ring.not sure where that is.does anyone know where some good detailed instructions with diagrams could be found.the manual does not have a good diagram.

I'm sure 71AG can help. He's got an upcoming update on disassy of a 71 steering column but he's been busy with other stuff lately.
