This post is not about kick down linkage.
Rebuilt 727 in a 69 Dart 340 swinger. Column shift. Aftermarket valve body.
When driving the car, it drives fine. Goes into gear fine. Shifts fine. Down shifts to first fine. The problem is when I floor the car, I get no kickdown. I've verified that the kickdown lever goes all the way back when the pedal is floored. Adjusted the kickdown band correctly. So, first, will it hurt the trans to drive it? Second, what can be wrong internally with the kickdown. Is it in the trans or valve body?

if this is a "performance" body, from whom was it manufactured by? there is a possibility that the function has been eliminated.

not having the kickdown working may damage the third gear and low clutches over time if you dont pull it into 2nd manually.

its possible that some parts are missing or miss adjusted on the valve body.

It could be a manual valve body, and if memory serves, you have to do all of the shifting yourself. That being said, I do recall a kickdown block rod that was place inside of the kickdown servo to prevent it from applying, so you might check that.

You could put block in the servo but do not expect 2nd to ever work again.
