I'll be needing the 23 spline for a 383/440 not decided. Correct?

Only an issue of which clutch disc you use. A 383 would have had a 23 spline'r.

just a different clutch same everything else, 71 has 2.44 gear too

Educate me please . I just want to get one that will work. I've never had a four speed.

If you just want a 4 speed, call Jamie passon from passon performance, he has great prices and does great work.
