new chrome box does it need

I'm going to put a new chrome box on my 440. Does it need a new ballast resistor? The one that's on it now is a 254186 1.25 ohm.

the 1.25 will work. an msd .8 might be better. depends on the coil.

No, it shouldn't. Ballast resistor needs to be matched to your coil, it shouldn't matter whether you're using an orange or chrome box. I burned up a new MSD blaster coil in just a few months using the stock ballast resistor instead of the one MSD recommended. Later on I switched from an orange to chrome box, haven't had any problems, still using the resistor that came with my new MSD coil.

Its a MSD blaster 2 coil.
