Hey everyone! I'm new to the board but not to Ma Mopar. Long time B body fanatic. Currently rerstoring my 4th....a true 1972 RoadRunner f7 (dark green) 400 car. I look forward to visiting with everyone here!

Hello mopardog....
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the Forum.

Anyway, send pics...

Welcome Dog, we need to see some pics of that Bird.

welcome to FBBO, where is "HERE" ??

Welcome from sunny southern Wisconsin. Any pics? Where you at Dawg?

Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone, been away from the computer for a little while. Work and chasing down parts for "The Bird" as she has come to be known (tip of the hat to the Family Guy episode where Peter discovers "Surfin Bird" lol wife hates that song, so naturally it fits hahaha). I'm located in the River Valley region of western Arkansas. I have had a long time love for the 1971-1972 RoadRunner bodies. The Bird will be the third one I have owned and will be second one I have restored. A friend found her for me at a little out of the way private salvage yard (owner called it a "collection"). He shot me a price I could not pass on and so, I decided to make her mine. She is originally a 400 car, but the original motor and trans had long since been removed when first owner blew the motor. He put in a 318 and after that pretty much his mother drove the car back and forth to church basically (found a ton of church bulletins in the glove box and console) after her son had passed away. When she passed, the remaining family sold the car to the guy I bought her from who parked her in his "collection". As you can hopefully see in the pic I will try to post, she has never been wrecked and the interior is in really great shape considering her age. She's now going though the process of a restoration. The suspension is getting completely rebuilt front to back, then she goes to the body shop for a make over. The small block is now removed and when paint and body are done, I will be putting in a fresh 383 back in since I had no luck finding a 72 model 400 to put back in. I think I will enjoy the 383 more anyway so no big deal.....I am just tickled to have a true RM23 coded car. 72rr.jpg

This is what she looked like when I found her. With the exception of the small chip in front of the passenger headlight, the grille is all there and in excellent shape. It now sits in my den in a very safe place waiting to go back in. :D

nice find. looks like some other interesting iron around her.

pretty happy and thankful to have been blessed to find her. Like I mentioned, I owned two other '71-'72s. My first '72 was a clone with a pretty hot 340 and the '71 was to be my next project at the time the '72 was to be finished. It was a roller and had just put a coat of primer on it and someone saw it and had to have it, so it sold. A little later, we fell on some tight times and sadly the '72 had to be sold. I would love to find her again and if possible, try to get her back. I also had for a short period of time a 74 Canadian Satellite that was custom ordered with RoadRunner options. I traded it to get the '71.
It has been a 10 year search to find my current baby. It's funny how it's when you are almost at the point of giving up that your patience pays off.

Welcome mopardog....Bird is the word!!!
