Hello mopar fans,

thanks for leting me join your site! I drive a 1968 Dodge Charger. It is a semi daily driver. Unfortunatly I am a very amature mechanic. When I bought the car, I didn't know what the "green stuff" leaking underneith the car was. I have learned a ton working on her though. I joined the B-bodies only forum because I am going to need a lot of help and advice as I slowly fix up my car. (slowly because of $) I attached a picture of my beauty!

thanks! Scott

Welcome to the site from the Motor City. Love `68's, my favorite year for the b-body accross the board. More pics!!!

Welcome to the boards! Good choice on the make, year and model!

Also check out the DodgeCharger.com site. Seems nowadays everyone belongs to more than one board....:eek:ccasion14:

Looks like one hell of a base to start with. Whats under the hood and what look are ya going for, original, modified, rat primer. Thanks for the welcome and same to you.

Thanks! I really am lucky I picked up this car. It only has a few minor and cosmetic things wrong with it. Really solid, and minimal rust, especially for a Utah car.

I got a 383 under the hood. I bought the car with a 318, and not long after I had bought it, the 318 needed to be rebuilt. I tore out the 318 and stored it in my garage, incase I ever want to go back to original. While the engine was out, I rebuilt the suspension and replaced the torsion bars with big block ones. Then I picked up a 383 from a friend. It was a 1970 truck 383. I took it to a local machine shop who rebuilt it for me with a mild cam and 66 hp heads. I hope i didn't screw up with this combo, but, like i posted earlier, I still am learning.

I am not going for original (sorry to all the numbers matching fans). But, I'm not going to go crazy with the mods. Keep it looking classic, but I'll never win any ribbons at the car shows. Right now I drive it while I wait for money. When I get enough saved up, the first thing I am going to do is POR 15 the undercarrige, replace the bad quarterpanal and paint it. Rust is the devil.

Glad to hear your doing your own thing, matching numbers is cool, but I like to see a real runner even a daily driver. Something that just makes you smile when you see it going down the road.

Just to let you know, I've used the POR in the past and was sold for awile. After a year or so not so much. I rebuilt a 78 ford pickup and used it all over the place. The interior floor held up great but I used it in the engine bay after sanding it down and cleaning it with solvent. It started to flake off and fade if coolant got on it and brake fluid takes it right off, unfortunately. I thought maybe my prep work wasn't the best but, I used it on some of my front suspension parts that I sand blasted and it still started to flake. I don't know if it's Michigan weather or I just had an old can because it never sees salt or rain and is garage kept. Just wanted to give you a heads up. I've been eyeballing this extreme chassis coat through the Eastwood company. It does look pricey but, Is it that pricey if yu never have to do it again.

Thanks for the heads up with the POR. I'll keep checking on your project to see what you use for the undercarrage and how it turns out.

SkudKino welcome to the forum. 68 Charger is a great car. Good luck.
