Welcome from Missouri!!

Hello all. I have been lurking here for a week or two. I've wanted a 71 Road Runner since I was about 11 when I saw it in one of my dad's old magazines. I was able to find a car that I hope I can make into the car of my dreams and since I have been enjoying all the stories of your cars I just wanted to post a bit about how I got my car.

I live in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Can and the car I found was in Edmonton, Alberta. It is a 71 318 2BBL Automatic B2 Blue Satellite Sebring. It runs and needs a lot of work both mechanicall and body wise but I fell in love. I arranged to buy it and set up the pick-up for this past Saturday. Here is our route, we went a slightly shorter route there but took a longer route back becasue of better roads for towing. Round trip was about 1260km (783 mi) and we did it in a day.

We left at 5:30 a.m. (couldn't sleep anyway) and got to the U-Haul depot to pick up our Auto Transport at 11:30. Then we headed to the pick-up spot. Had to get some gas and load up all the spare parts that were coming with it (including 2 complete pristine grille/headlight bezel sets and tailight bezels) and then we loaded her onto the trailer. She was sputtering and coughing but we got her loaded. What a rush.

Once we got ourselves some food and drinks for the trip home we headed out through the city and got back on to the highway around 3:30. One last stop to check the straps and chains and we headed out. Stopped every couple of hours to check on the car and we finally got home at 10:30 p.m. That was one long day. I think I was too tired to enjoy the feeling and only once I got up the next day did it actually sink in.

She's now off the trailer and parked on the side of my driveway until I can get her running a bit better than I'll park her for the winter and hopefully do a bit of work on her as time and space permits. Kinda spent my allowance buying her and won't have any money left for the resto this year but I'll be watching the forum for tips and asking advice as I go. When se's done, she'll be In-Violet with front and rear spoilers and a strobe stripe. I think I'll badge her as a Road Runner but the engine will still be the 318 and I'll be upgrading to a 4bbl carb. It already has headers and dual exhaust so I'll just have to change the rear valance and add tips to dress her up back there.

Anyway, just wanted to do a quick intro. My name's Steve.
