Hey everyone, I am new to this. I am 25yr old guy who loves doing projects. I'm quite the outdoorsman, I live in one of the beautiful states i call montana. I've always had an interest in this stuff since I was a kid, and about 3yrs ago I found a 74 charger se. It's definitely been a great project that I had driving down the road pretty quick. Unfortunately while driving, wiring shorted out and burnt up the engine bay/ect. I've been working on the new wiring and slowly adding piece by piece to restore the beauty back to life. I'm here to learn and enjoy this as much as anyone else. Thank you!

Welcome from the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Always wanted to visit big sky country.

Welcome to FBBO from Georgia.

Welcome from Alabama, nice that young people are talking an interest in our old iron. Today's cars are almost impossible to work on, and won't be around in 50-60 years, but if we stock up on a few essentials we will be still riding for a long time. Piece your car back together and enjoy. We are here to help as we can.

I may have a 74 under hood harness.

Welcome aboard from Ohio.

Welcome from just north across the border from you, Alberta. Nice Charger. Years ago, my family made several ski trips to Big Mountain in Whitefish...to this day, that was the best skiing I ever did!

Caused by ?
the bulkhead connecter on the firewall ?
known to be a problem when they get rusty or corroded, connection
so is the Amp gauge, a lot of stories about them too
Be careful it, disconnecting the, they can be very brital, old plastic etc. old wires :blah:
clean all the connections surfaces, check & make sure the wires are all good too
use a lil' brass brush & pipe cleaners, need a lil' buger to get down in them,
then use some electrical cleaner spay, that won't leave a residue,
clean both sides of all the connections
check all the connection & use a lil' tiny dab of dielectric grease
on each connection when reinstalling, it
that will help keep out the corrosion/oxidation/rusty crud

New wiring is a great project, get familiar with the car

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

good luck
