I just bought my first Mopar it is a 1970 GTX with numbers matching 440 Super Commando and 727 torque flight transmission. Everything is pretty much done inside and out except the engine, transmission, fuel tank, front shocks, brake booster and a few other small things. I want to finish the restore to factory correct and would like to know the best locations to find the best help on correct reinstall on these items. Also the best location to purchase correct parts. I have restored Chevy’s but decided it was time to try my first Mopar. Thanks in advance for any help.

Nice find and welcome! Those in the know will chime in shortly as I'm just figuring things out myself. Everyone will be asking for pictures so get 'em ready. Happy Holidays too!

You are in the right place, welcome. There are some great suppliers over to the right of the page and pick up an issue of the Mopar Collectors Guide magazine, which is also a great reference for suppliers. As far as advice, just start asking.

I would like to know the best literature to help me select the correct parts, colors and correct paths that the wires, hoses, brake lines run also the best places to find these. I pickup the engine, transmission and rest of the parts tomorrow so I will know more about what small parts will be needed then. I was told the car is supposed to have a dbl snorkel on it and I have seen both round and square end snorkels so which is the correct one for this car?

welcome, there should be some other members here that can put up some websites that you can go to.or you can go to the restoration and members project thread also.i think the 440 comando had round snorkels.

"Charger, Road Runner & Super Bee Restoration Guide" by Paul A. Herd. I have found this book very helpful on many occasions.

Thanks to everyone The Charger, Road Runner & Super Bee Restoration Guide" by Paul A. Herd must be a good book because it is either sold out or cost $150 to $600.

Service Manual

Hi , Welcome. Just a little helpful hint. Buy yourself an original 70 service manual. You will never regret it.

Sorry but that book is well noted for it's mistakes. It is not a good reference for an accurate restoration and not recommended.

Asking questions on websites is probably the cheapest and quickest way to get the answers you want. Evaluate the answers carefully as you will still recieve wrong information on the boards.

I have noticed the mistakes in the book, but there is still a lot of good info in it and makes for a good reference when used in conjunction with other sources. I have the one for E-bodies as well and also feel the same way about it. I did not know it was so difficult to find anymore.
Factory service manual is a must too.

I have ordered the 1970-1971 Plymouth Roadrunner GTX Satellite Parts Book and the 1970 Plymouth Shop Manual Belvedere GTX and Road Runner. Can anyone think of anything else that will help me get it factory correct?
