Weell, I finally broke down and bought a new (repop) tail panel for the GTX.
It looks great, and I was all set to install it yesterday, BUT.... The GTX emblem I purchased is not even close to being correct. The original one is contoured to fit around the "V" that runs across at the centerline of the panel. The aftermarket one is flat on the back and the fittings are totally wrong. The original emblem has 2 posts that are symmetrical and the attachment to the back of the panel is a clamp appearing device and not a nut similar to the ones that hold the panel to the trunk lid.
The new emblem has a center post and an offset nub that appears to be a stabilizing pin. The center post is threaded similar to the posts that attach the panel.
The original emblem is in marginal shape and I am not sure how to get it off without damaging it, nor how to reattach it to the new panel once it is ready to go back in place !
Any help or ideas will most certainly be appreciated.
Jeff
