Hi fellas. I'm new to American muscle cars. I've always been into Japanese tuners but about a year or so ago my dad got me into old school Mopars. I am absolutely addicted to them. I have become a MoPar Supremist lol. I went from never working on a car in my life to taking an entire 72 Charger completely apart for restoration (with my dad over my shoulder telling me what to do of course ) all in the past year. So I've learned a lot more than when I started, but I am a complete sponge and have limited novice knowledge. I want more! Lol. My dream car is a 1970 Dodge Charger RT/SE. I have my second favorite car of all time (71RR, needs work but runs and good body and frame). I'll list my favorites in order so you know where I'm at.
1970 Charger RT/SE
1971 Roadrunner
1971 Cuda/1970 Challenger- I can't decide between the 2 lol
1970 Fury GT
1967 Fury 3 Coupe
i Love many more and also all variations of these cars. These are just my top 5/6 lol. I love the 1970 Hurst 300 as well. It should be up there because of rarity, but I love body lines and that is what I go off of mostly since I can make all of them have a 440 4 speed :)
all advice and knowledge is openly welcome and appreciated. I know we won't all agree but creativity is what makes us all different (I would completely put a modern engine and update the interior in a cool custom way if I had the money, but I would never do that to my dream Charger lol) just so you know where I'm at. My dad says all the modern work to the old MoPars is butchering them.i agree only if it's a numbers matching all original. Other than that, I believe that's where everyone's own personality enters the car and makes them all different.
i plan on starting my 71 Roadrunner soon. Looking forward to the advice (warning, I might not be conventional, I like pushing the envelope).
Talk to you guys soon -- MoParalysis
Hope I did justice on the username lol.

Welcome, Cool 71, The ricers are doing the same as we did back in the day. Take a plentyful, cheap car (at the time) and make it go faster, same as the generation before us. The more things change, the more they stay the same. You have excellent taste in mopars, if I do say so. MOPAR RULES!

Yes. It already has an engine in it. It has a 440 Super Commando. Its a factory 383 4 speed car. Still has the 4 speed (currently will only shift into second gear?) but we'll fix that. It was a bench 4 speed but buckets will be going in it. My dad said if I want to drag race it that the bench shift 4 speed was better because it is further forward. But I want to add a twin turbo to it. I've not been around a lot of other MoPars other than my dads but he uses superchargers.
but I want to put a Long Horn Cross Ram in it with twin turbo's. If it can be done. And it has a 456 rear end in it (not a Dana, wish it was).

Welcome to the site. You picked a great forum to join with a lot of knowledgeable people willing to help out with any questions you may have. Must be awesome having your Dad with you out in the garage when you need a little assistance.

Welcome to the site from PA! I like your list of car choices - you already have a great one! Keep up the good work getting your hands dirty, and you'll be building even more with the cars in no time!

One note: As you modify your cars, be sure you have a VISION for what you want the car to be. Most guys need a street car and want some straight line go for stoplight battles. But that is a very different car than a pure race car, because a pure race car won't run great on the street. Sure, it can do it, but it won't be a good daily driver. IMHO, 4.56 and long horn cross ram are getting into race car territory...

Just my $0.02. Either way, welcome and best of luck with your car...

Yeah, except I'm his assistance lol

My feeling are hurt cause you didn't list a 69 Road Runner.
Not really.
I find it fascinating what the preferences are of a young person who was not around when these cars were new.
(Which I assume you weren't.)
You are not burdened with memories, mental history of the advertising and possibly the movies that CONTRIBUTED to a particular body style's popularity.
You are a clean slate.

thank you. And I have a COMPLETE vision on what I want my car to be :) My dad started the whole idea and I just kind of ran wild with it lol.

I love the 69 RR, the 68, the 70, and even the 72 if it wasn't for those horrible side markers lol. I just listed my favorites. My dads favorite RR is a 69. Yes I don't know about the movies and I wasn't around when these cars came out. Although I remember my dads 69 Charger, 69 RR, and Goldduster when I was growing up. But just thought they were all old cars lol. I'm not Tht young lol 30's but just now realizing all the stuff I ignored lol

The rear gear is already there, but the Long Horn Cross Ram is going to be hard to find. And even then I heard they were like $1500. But sooner or later it'll be on there. First time I saw it was in a MoPar book of my dads that he told me to take home. It was instant love. I've never seen anything like it. It's awesome. I just hope the hood will shut lol. It won't shut now unless the air cleaner is off.

Instead of getting a rare and expensive long cross-ram and making it work with a turbo setup why not think of making the intake from tubing and using that instead? That way you can put the ends that are needed for a turbo and in a more clean install. Injector tubes can be added in the manifold and a balance tube.

Welcome..

Nice to know you are switching from this:

To be honest I'm not real good on knowing how everything works yet. My dad is always over my shoulder to tell me what to do. But he doesn't use turbos so he doesn't know how to set them up, neither do I. And I want to use the Long Horn because it's straight old school MoPar cool points. I love how it looks. A little old school here, a little new school there, but it's just paying homage.
