Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1968 Plymouth Satellite that I first saw 24 years ago. The car was having a charging issue. I just installed an internally regulated 100Amp alternator from Summit and am now charging properly. I have been reading some information about replacing the wiring to the battery. Is this necessary? If so, does the cable run directly to the positive post of the battery, or to the starter? If I run the cable to the battery post, do I need to do anything else?

For the ground I ran a 10 Gauge wire to the bolt on the alternator mounting bracket that bolts to the engine block. Is this a sufficient ground?

I also plan to remove the old external regulator.

Full disclosure, I am new to this and learning my way as I go. Thanks to you all in advance for your assistance.

Regards,
Brian

ground I run on my car is:

earth strap from engine head to firewall, earth strap near fuse box, earth strap from battery to chassis in the boot as my battery is in the boot.

you can never have too many earths IMO, now don't take my comment and whack 100 earths on because that is overkill.

for my power it runs directly to starter. but I have a custom power block to run everything else

Would run at least 10 gauge to what ever is closest ( battery, starter relay or starter) positive connection.
