Hi my name is Cody and i am currently starting a rebuild on a 1973 dodge charger 2 dr hard top. This charger has a 318 in it but i am replacing it with a big block 383. I am 20 years old and this is my first project car, any tips and information is greatly appreciated.
I've been looking forward to this post. I'll give you a call sometime tomorrow. I think I have a set of the spool mounts that you will need to put the 383 in your car.
If I can find them I'll give them to you. I would like to see you get your car on the road. If you have any questions about the big block 727 just give me a shout.
You will find this is a great place to get advice and find parts for your project.
There are a lot of very knowledgeable persons here who are willing to help steer you down the right path with your car.
It's great to see younger people get into the "Mopar" club!!!
Ive always been a big fan of the 71-74 Chargers. I've seen your car in person and you have a great start.
Again, welcome aboard, and keep the pictures coming.
Welcome to the site Cody. We'll help you out anyway we can and ... listen that that man ^^^^ and if you haven't already had the chance go see his work and shop and soak up as much as you can from him.
Welcome to the site Cody from NC, good luck with your build. There is a lot of knowledge on this site so don't be afraid to ask questions, I'm a rookie to, you can learn a lot here.
Here you go Cody. These motor mounts came out of a 77 Cordoba (with real Corinthian leather) LOL. The car had a 400 lean burn in it. They should allow you to install the 383 in your Charger. Consider it a late Christmas gift or a VERY early one for this year !!!!!
I can either send them to you in the mail or you can stop by the shop and pick them up. Just let me know.

You can reuse the existing bolts on the motor mount brackets from your 383 to bolt them to your engine.

Welcome to the site. I'm up here in Orange Park by Jacksonville. I'm not far from J and J Auto Parts in Starke, which has more Mopar parts cars than anywhere else I know of. There's also a Charger sitting at a junkyard near my house that might have some parts as well. Here are some pics:
looks like an old Desoto sitting in the back ground love the old eye brows above the lamps we use to use them back in the day on other brands and the grilles :icon_thumleft:
Welcome to the best forum!! I went from a small block to a big block in my 68 GTX. I had to change my Tortion Bars to support that big block! Keep us posted we love pictures!!
