Hey man, I would say that if you were planning on keeping the factory SMPI system, which is an awesome system, you should take the complete motor with all the sensors, wiring, and computer from a donor vehicle.
You should try to get a newer OBDII set up for easier performance tuning.
The SMPI system is superior in all respects to the carbureted system, except maybe for an all-out drag set up, and the technology is there, so why not take advantage of it if it's already bolted to any factory 5.7l Magnum motor?!!
other than that, should be a simple set up. Perhaps the trickiest part will be figuring out a fuel tank/pump/line set up as the SMPI system will of course require pressurized fuel lines.
Good luck!
