I've met a few Newfies in person.
Think "ginormous labrador retriever" and that's been my experience. Very sweet, loveable dogs.

Eat anything and everything. I remember once I called the vet about my Thunder (182 lb Newf) eating half of my wife's chocolate cake. Dogs and chocolate don't mix. She just laughed and said he would half to eat a lot more cake for the size of him.
