I've been lurking for a while and finally signed up a few months back when I became more serious in my search for a classic Mopar. I owe this obsession to my father who's had me around cars my entire life. He being a lifelong Mopar fan it naturally wore on me. For the last 11 years I owned and loved my 2004 SRT-4. There wasn't a nut or bolt on that car I didn't touch or change...different turbos, suspensions, etc. The best I ever recorded in the 1/4 mile was 11.71@122.8. While I loved that car, and always will, I felt like it was to pass it to the next guy so I could find something a little different. I also wanted something that my Dad and I could tinker with together as he dials in his '68 Charger R/T.
I've always had a special place in my heart for the mid-60's B bodies. Something about the lines and aggressive styling just speaks me to me. I knew one day I'd have to own one. Well...that one day was yesterday. I drove up to Michigan and picked up a beautiful '67 Plymouth Satellite. I was tempted by some other options as I know it's a bit difficult to get a decent tire under this body style, but after coming from front wheel drive anything is better. Haha.
For now I'm just gonna go through everything and take care of the few small things that need attention. I want to hit up some car shows and cruise nights and just enjoy it. In the corner of the garage I'll start amassing parts and work with my Dad to build a 470 stroker. I want to keep everything as stock appearing and clean as possible. The plan is to start at the rear end and work forward. We'll see how things go but I couldn't be happier with the car and the adventures my Dad and I went on to find it.
This site has been a great knowledge base so far and I thank everyone for their contributions.
A few pics of the old SRT and the new Satellite.
