greetings
i am joining because of all things i need some help.........
i own a 2000 durango, a 2002 dakota, 2001 buick, and four 1961 ford f100 unibody pickups...
no, I'm not bragging. I somehow lost my mind a year ago and decided to go back to my college days and start a project i knew something about,my first ride..
you guesed it... drum roll please.....................
yep a 1961 f100. one turned into two, two turned... well, you get it.

now before you throw me off of the site let me reasure you there is a reason i am here (not just to annoy you).

one of the best upgrades to the old ford I beam suspensions was offered by the bond bros. in gibbon nebraska, and used the b body as a donor.
also known as the gibbons or cordoba ifs.

now i happen to have bought one of these conversion kits for one of my trucks.

what i need if you will help me is pictures or a diagram of the darn thing because it is all in pieces. I most need to know how the sway bar is mounted because on my own, it looks like it mounts to the strut rod instead of the lower control arm

all of the pictures and sites i see, show a sway bar that mounts to the lower control arm
well I've droned on long enough so if you can help I would sure appreciate it

Swaybars were a bit different depending on what car, and to a degree, what YEAR it is for. I believe some C body cars had a swaybar that was attached to the strut. However, I don't think A, B, or E cars were like that. Some B body bars were mounted to the front of the K frame, but starting in 70 they went THROUGH the K frame.

So, I think before we can give you any real help we'll need to know more about what you have. Maybe post pics of the parts you've got.

gibbon ifs

managed to put a few pics of my sway/strut assembly as i see them going together in my photo album
sorry about the clarity just trying to get them identified
will try to get better pics to post if i can figureb out how or maybe how to link to photo bucket

Kinda looks like a C body setup to me. A C body would be like a Newport or New Yorker, or Monaco, or Fury (after 65)

Welcome to the site, Mopar front ends under old trucks aren't that uncommon around here, I put a 77 Volare front end under a 53 Ford truck for a customer several years ago

so if you check the gallery you will find new pics you can actually see.
I have finally figured out that the sway bar mounts under the strut instead of over it. this is the suspension as it looks complete, but unassembled. there may be some minor parts still in the box with some of the replacement parts
I believe the sway bar runs through the x member in the original application, but will hang free of the crossmamber in my truck.
the truck shown is the one I am working on and may use for this suspension, the alternative is the crown victoria PI front end which I will be forced to use on my other trucks since the bond bros retired and no longer make the "Cordoba kit" for the 1961 ford unibody. I am always hopefull of finding one thats been sitting on the shelf for to long
thanks
john
