From a 74 Charger 318 car. Just pulled K member and found this. Looks like someone put a tow chain on here. The one weld is busted as you can see. But the up and down support is intact. Can I heat this up, hammer it back in place, and weld it up? this is on the left (drivers) side.

If you had it strapped to a frame rack with it being pulled, maybe. Looks like from your picture there are some other areas being affected by the damage so you are better off finding another unit.

Just about anything can be repaired if you have the tools but is it worth the time and expense vs just getting another one?

I have no idea how much another one would cost. 74 Charger parts cars are hard to find in this part of Texas. This was the last thing to take off this car. I guess I'm upset that it's going to take longer to get it on the road on cost more.

Keep yours eyes peeled for any shows/swaps happening in your area plus someone is bound to chime in saying they have one.

I'm in Texas. Most swap meets around here: 90% GM, 7% ford and 3% other with Mopar part of other. Went to the largest swap meet in the area last month, Pate at TMS. Won't be any more around here until Sept. Thinking about going to one in Petit Jean Ark mid June. Eight hour drive from here. I watch the parts for sale on here , DC.com and Moparts all the time. Be watching for a K member now.

I suggest you post a WTB Advertisement here, and also contact @Moparparts - he has a great trading reputation, and can possibly lead you to the parts you need. :)

Sure you can repair it, but maybe not you. Find someone who does metal fabrication and have it repaired properly. Heating and banging can distort but pressure applied by a press can straighten it. A decent metal worker will also check the trueness of the finished job.

When I first saw the damage I pretty much knew I would have to replace it. I guess I just wanted a second opinion. Thanks for all the help. I'll post an ad here soon.

Keep in mind , 75 - 79 B BODIES , (Cordoba , charger SE and Plymouth ) use the exact same k member , big block mounts are in a different spot, but I have a 440 in a small block k member with no more than a 1 inch shim . I would never spend more than 100 bucks before shipping. There are still hundreds of them out there

Thanks kiwigtx, yes i have one here from a 73 or 74 Road Runner 318 car. 74charger07ram if you still need one PM me and i will check the condition and figure up shipping for you
