Ok to use Group 24 battery w/440?

Is there a reason you want to go to group 24. Is your current battery having problems. More input please

Wouldn't see why not if it's used for a fair weather cruiser. Does it start easily both cold and hot?

The old battery is dead. The car is not registered I just need something to start it and move it around. My buddy has a group 24 that he’ll give me for a couple bucks, I have no idea if it’s hard to start I’ve only run it once and that was years ago.

thats what I have

Make sure to test it first. Put it on a slow trickle charge for at least 12 hours and then load test it. It might be bad.Like tires, batteries have date codes stamped into them and unless kept at full charge will go bad after 3-5 years. Charge to at least 12.5 volts and it must maintain at least 9.5 volts under load or it is done.

27 group it used to be to cars with AC &/or HiPo back in the days as far I know. But newer batteries have better load capacity, so you can find group 24 batts with same or similar old 27 group specs
