Guys....gonna talk about something that as the majority of us on here being men wouldn't normally talk about. My mother in law just lost her year and half battle with cancer. It started out as cervical cancer and spread to other parts of her body and in her lungs which was what ended her battle. She had my wife fairly young and at age 53 had a lot of life to live. As men we don't think about cervical cancer and the importance of the woman in our lives getting their yearly exam.....but we should!!! With yearly exams cervical cancer is almost completely preventable and if caught soon enough totally treatable. She had no health insurance and thought it would be too expensive and in the long run paid the ultimate price with her life. PLEASE insist that all the females in your life go and get examined every year...don't be to busy, to embarrassed, or to broke.
Rest In Peace, Christina L Gibbons....You will be missed.

Im at the beginning of this journey right now. My mother in law had a tumor removed from her liver last year and every thing was good. Now this year it has come back with a vengeance. Its in her stomach and elsewhere. She just finished a round of radiation today. I think Thursday we find out if it did any good

Prayers to you '67 and to you HemiRebel. MIL and FIL hit with health issues. crazy thing is; both are in their late 80's and shoot in the low 90's golf. the've always been active and healthy... i guess ya never know..

Prayers and best wishes goes out to you and your family. The Big C has claimed my Dad and 2 of my sisters.

I have lost both of my grandfathers, my step father, biological father, wife's grandfather and now her mother to cancer...my thoughts are with you.

Thoughts and prayers go out to your families for someone that was the cornerstone of your life.

Sorry to hear this stuff guys, my deepest heartfelt condolences goes out to all those who have been effected & lost loved ones to cancer or any other life ending type disease/ailments... I lost my mother {most caring & giving person @ 69} about 10 years ago to complication from MS that was misdiagnosed for years & finally properly diagnosed late in her life, unfortunately it was too late... I lost my Granddad in 2000 to a from intestinal/stomach cancer he was a couple days before his 90th B-Day, for a long time he had issues & was too proud to tell anyone, that could have been dealt with much earlier & could have help extend his life... my Grammy died of cancer that spread all over her body, she withered away for years, truly sad, when I was about 30 y/o she was 69 IIRC {Salt of the earth, great giving person}, she had major complications with asthma, lung polyps & other chronic respiratory issues, that were wrongly diagnosed originally as merely emphysema IIRC... my youngest sister just died at 39 y/o from some form of ovarian cancer... My step father has had operations for Prostate cancer a couple times now... My ol'Pops is now going thru heart issues, good thing is it has made him finally start to see his mortality, he's not indestructible & finally quit drinking, finally starting to take better care of himself {with me hammering it home}, he's doing much better now, his life has completely changed for the better... Always get more than one Dr.'s opinions, there are people/specialist that deal with different types of ailments that can help, I look at it like they are just people/human mechanics, so to speak, they aren't always right, some aren't experts either, some aren't very good either... I've seen it several time in my life now, that Dr.'s didn't catch or misdiagnose stuff, if your not happy go to another Dr... We all have a shelf life, we aren't immortal, after 40 men need to get regular check up, get colon exams too, get prostate exams etc., women need to get breast exams & go to the gynecologist too... it may help to save someone's life & keep them around for much longer... Don't be stubborn or pig headed... I have several Dr.'s & Dentists in my family too, a Brother, Sister & 2 Aunt's & an Uncle, sad thing is it doesn't make a difference, if they aren't the ones treating the ailments... I read something about brushing your teeth after every meal {I always do & have}, there was a study that directly contributed many forms of cancer, in subject in the study, to poor oral hygiene/poor teeth, up like 20% more likely to get some form of cancer or other fatal health issues, for every time per day you don't brush after a meal {not sure how factual but sounds logical, what ever you put in your mouth effects your life span}... American Cancer Centers is great too {google it}, I have a good friend & a family member that are now well over 10 years past a death diagnosis & treatment, that was caught & cured by them, that were given on months to live by their regular Dr.'s/Hospital...

Way too young. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you to all for your prayers and kind words. I hope this post nudges us as men to push the ladies in our lives to get their yearly exam to hopefully keep somebody from having to go through this terrible tragedy when it is totally preventable by getting their exams yearly....

To all who have gone through, or are going through this: My prayers and best wishes to you.

My mother in law has valiantly fought renal (kidney) cancer for 20 years. It is now finally getting the best of her, but she struggles on. It is frustrating, sad, expensive, complicated, scary, etc. to go through this stuff, and many times, it is hard to find good answers. So many people go through this, yet everyone seems to have to go through hell to figure out good options. It sucks and shouldn't be that way.
